Although there is no medical evidence for any food (including warm milk) to help with sleeping, this is a recipe that helps me at night. (notice I didn't say it was a low calorie recipe for for those under 21) This is so much better than the packages that you find in the store.
Hot Chocolate Syrup - 6-8 servings 1/2 cup cocoa 3/4 - 1 cup sugar 1/4 tsp salt 1/2 cup boiling water 1/2 cup heavy cream 2 oz semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips 1/2 tsp vanilla 1 tsp Bailey's irish cream or cognac (opt) In heavy saucepan, + cocoa, sugar (use 1 cup if using dark chocolate), salt + boiling water. Simmer for 3 minutes Whisk in heavy cream. Simmer until bubbles form around edges then remove from heat. + chocolate chips. Whisk until smooth + vanilla, alcohol. Cover and let rest 5 minutes This syrup can be stored for a month. To make 1 cup of hot chocolate: + 1/4 cup syrup to 1 cup of heated milk or 1/2 cup heavy cream and 1/2 cup milk I've been having some people come in with sleep problems this month. I hope that this article from the Mayo clinic will give some more suggestions about helping with this problem. Feeling crabby lately? It could be you aren't getting enough sleep. Work, household responsibilities and child care can make sleep difficult to come by. Factor in other unexpected challenges, such as financial worries, layoffs, relationship issues or an illness, and quality sleep may be even more elusive. You may not be able to control or eliminate all of the factors that interfere with your sleep, but you can create an environment and adopt habits that encourage a more restful night. Try these suggestions if you have trouble falling asleep or staying asleep:
